A Cd anomaly was found around the Dongting Lake in Hunan Province by previous soil geochemical survey. In order to investigate the formation, ways of transportation and fluxes of As and heavy metals such as Cd, sampling points were designated at the key locations in the Dongting Lake water system. Samples of raw water, water filtrated by 0.45 μm filters and 0.20 μm ones, and filtrated suspended sediments were collected at each sampling location. As and heavy metals such as Cd, Pb etc. in the water and sediment samples were analyzed. As was found concentrated at Zishui, Xiangjiang and its upstream branches like Xihe and Leishui; Pb,Zn were concentrated at Xiangjiang, Xihe and Leishui; and Cd concentrated at Xiangjiang, Leishui and Miluojiang. Dissolved forms were found to be the dominant of the total contents for As, Ni, Cd and Zn. The proportion of dissolved to the total was controlled by pH and temperature of the water. As,Zn,Cu,Cd,Pb and Cu contents in the suspended sediments from Xiangjiang, Xihe, Leishui and Miluojiang were higher than in the other water systems due to the mining activities for metals at the drainage basins. As was transported more in the form of the dissolved form than in the particulate one, but Pb,Zn,Cu,Cd and Ni were more transported in the form of the particulate. Xiangjiang is the biggest source of As,Zn,Cu and Cd for the Dongting Lake with the annual fluxes of 961.43 t, 478.90 t, 101.67 t and 59.58 t respectively.

Environmental 210Pb and 137Cs dating techniques were applied to determine recent deposition rates.210Pb and  137Cs were analyzed for the Wuliangsu lake sediment core. In the core, there was an obvious peak in 1963, which was an important age characteristic for the Wuliangsu lake sediments. The deposition rate of the Wuliangsu lake was about 0.47 cm/a by 137Cs time marker (1963).210Pb (CRS) dating showed a relatively good agreement with the  137Cs dating. The limit depth of 210Pb was 74 cm, which corresponded to the year of 1892. The abnormal variations of 210Pb activity could be found in the profile. The highest value of  210Pb at the depth of 20 cm might be linked with the maximum value in 1963 due to the nuclear bomb test producing both 137Cs and 210Pb. The deposition rate was changeable in the Wuliangsu lake by analyzing the depth and ages, which showed that the sedimentation environment was changeable in recent 113 years either. The combination of the two dating methods was useful to understand the substantial sedimentation process of the wetland where sedimentation rates change rapidly.

The atmospheric dry/wet deposition samples are collected from different environmental function districts in order to analyze particulate and dissolved indexes of heavy metals and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) respectively. Furthermore, seasonal deposition flux and annual deposition total are calculated and applied to the case study, based on acquiring the seasonal change rules, the contribution of different geomorphic condition, cities and pollution source areas to deposition sources are compared. The results indicate as follows: atmosphere transports the heavy metals into Jianghan Plain by means of precipitation mainly. With respect to the atmospheric deposition amount, the plain’s is a little higher than that of hilly area and hilly land plain area, and Wuhan’s is higher than that of other cities, as well as industrial pollution areas, which amounts are much higher than the agrarian areas’.Taking three pollution source areas for comparison, the results are as follows:as particulate deposition of heavy metals, smoke dust> chemical industry dust > transportation dust;as dissolved deposition of heavy metals, chemical industry dust > transportation dust> smoke dust (expect for individual elements). The nutrient elements in atmospheric precipitation, such as N, K and Fe, are enriched relatively in chemical industry area. However, it is to a certain degree that P deposition is restrained in smoke dust and chemical industry area. Finally, the lindane still joins the local environment recently, which is concluded according to the different component relations of isomer between two different kinds of OCPs.

This paper focuses on the distribution features of the heavy metals in loess profiles of Linfen Basin in Shanxi Province, in order to discuss the factors controlling geochemical behaviors of heavy metals in loess soil. The results suggest that Pb, Zn and Cu have similar vertical distribution characteristics. Whereas As, Cd and Hg show different distribution patterns. Pb, Cu and Zn are at variance with paleo-climate indicators such as magnetic rate,SiO2/Al2O3. This indicates that paleo-climate controlled the Pb, Cu and Zn contents in loess. The reason for this is probably that they are in existence as isomorphism of magnetic minerals. As, Cd and Hg contents in loess profiles were not affected by paleo-climate. The relationships between heavy metals and stable elements serve as evidence that their contents in loess reflected the compositions of sources materials of loess. 

On the basis of the results of multiobjective geochemical exploration in the region of Song-Nen low plain, the paper studies composition of the elements contributed to the soil salinization in the SongNen plain. By investigating the element content changes and relationships among different elements, the paper discusses the geochemical distribution characteristics of the salinization region. A critical interval of pH value is involved in salinization soil, and the degree of salinization is closely related to the contents of Cl, S, Na and other elements. The interaction of salinization and desertification are acted on the soil in the space, and these actions jointly caused the soil degradation in this area.Either in the surface soil or in the deep-surface soil of the Song-Nen plain, the content of Cl is relatively low, which results the strong enrichment of Cl locally, and which is related to the high salinity ofchemical composition of the underground water.

Soil and dust samples were collected and analyzed from Linhe city, Inner Mongolia. The geochemical characteristics of the elements in the samples are given in this paper. Anomalies of Cd, Pb, Hg, Cu, Cr and other heavy metal elements were found in surface soil and dust, while they are close to the background values in deeper soil samples. The contents of all heavy metal elements in dust are obviously higher than that in the relevant surface soil with 1.39-4.12 times. The sources of abnormal elements are closely related to emission of coal combustion, automobile exhaust and other industrial activities. The Pb and Cd are the main abnormal heavy metal elements in dust and soil of the urban Linhe. The level of Cu in the urban Linhe is significantly higher than in the Hetao plain, and it is higher in floating dust than in soil. The status may be due to the excessive use of Cu products in the urban area. Linhe is a city mainly depending on the light industry, so the contents of heavy metals in the urban area are obviously lower than other big cities. However, abnormal area of element still exist, it reveals that the human activities bring serious impacts on the urban city environment.

It`s very important to study the factors that affect the transport of different forms of Pb in the pedogenetic process to understand geochemical behaviors of lead. In this article the distribution of the different forms of Pb in yellow soil profiles in Chengdu economic zone agro-ecosystems from Sichuan was been described, and the factors controlling the different forms’ transport and transformation were also been discussed. We focus on the distribution features of lead species in yellow soil profiles in Chengdu agro-ecosystems in Sichuan Province in order to assess the ecological safety. The results showed that the total Pb was enriched in the surface and was stable in the deep. In yellow soils, the main existing forms of lead were residual state and Fe-Mn oxidual state. And the increasement of total Pb led to the content of stable state Pb increasing. pH has significant influence on the transferring of Pb species, especially for the carbonate Pb. The total organic carbon and clay minerals contents also effect on transferring of Pb. The bioavailability and the mobility index for yellow soil are also low, which suggest that the cultivated soils have certain harm to the plant and the humanity.

Also human health risk assessment on Cd pollution area is carried out according to heavy metal elements such as Cd intake of local residents’ staple food. This study indicates that Cd is the main heavy metal pollution element of rice and wheat in Deyang region, and the paddy area over standard of Cd is predicted about 1,547.95 square kilometers, which accounts for 73.47% of investigated region’s area. Obvious Cd abnormity is found in human hair, in which the area of high Cd content is consistent to the distribution of soil abnormity and high content of residents’ staple food intake. It shows that Cd intakes in Shifang City, Mianzhu City, An County, Jingyang District and Guanghan City exceed the standard by 2-10 times, and Mianzhu City and Shifang City have the most human health risk from heavy metal pollution, secondly Jingyang District.

It is of great significancy to carrying out regional health risk assessment on heavy metals, which can further discuss healthy risk of heavy metals and serve for forecasting and early warning of regionally ecological geochemistry. Foreign risk assessment theory is applied to develop risk assessment on arsenic, cadmium, mercury and lead through investigating plant and atmosphere in Chengdu economic region. For noncarcinogenic risk, hazard index is calculated in the base of two exposure pathways including food intake and inhalation. And risk level resulting from cadmium inhalation is accounted for carcinogenic risk. It is indicated that cadmium and lead have upper ecological risk in Chengdu economic region, and hazard index of cadmium is the highest. According to total risk, risk difference between areas is obvious and the upper risk exists in Deyang and Chengdu districts. Comparing different exposure routes’ contributing proportion to total risk, proportion of grain is the highest, which holds 71.19% of total risk, other are potato, vegetable, bean and inhalation by decreasing sequence respectively. For carcinogenic risk, investigated region, where average value of carcinogenic risk is 7.6×10-6, locates acceptable risk level on the whole, and high risk areas mostly locate west of Deyang and suburb of Leshan city, in which atmosphere environmental problem should be taken more attention.

Agriculture and livestock production efficiency and human living quality are impacted directly by the land quality. Quantity and quality of land resource and coordination management of ecological protection were the direction of land resource management. It was necessary to evaluate the land quality for optimized allocation and sustainable use of land resource and sustainable development of social economy.  Abundant geochemical data were obtained by the multi-objective regional geochemical survey of Jilin Province. The geochemical assessment1∶250,000)of land quality in DehuiNongan district, the western and middle Jilin Province was taken. The results indicate that the land quality in the east is better than that in the west. The quality of black soil was best, but 7.97 percent of phaeozem had been changed into middle grade or low grade land. 43 percent of chernozem belonged to middle and low product field, thus the black soil degenerated seriously. Since slightly sand soil kept better land quality, the soil might be exploited through intensification of sand regulation and farmland protection. Optimal cycle of regional eco-agriculture would be promoted by the rational land-use mode taken according to land quality.

The paper puts forward a method of multiscale analysis of exploration geochemical anomalies, with a case study of Cu element anomalies of Dexing ore concentration area, northeast Jiangxi Province.  Shift-invariant stationary wavelet transform was used to do multiscale decomposition of the anomalies. With the increase of decomposition level, statistical distribution of the approximations changed to uniformity, and the level was maximal. The approximation was not the background at each scale, and the background was a wave belt. The upper inflexions at the accumulative frequencycontent graphs of multiscale details anomalies indicated the threshold of the anomalies, and which should be used to the details at lower levels. The threshold of the anomalies of the details at higher level was zero in view of the geological implication. The areas with existence of multiscale Cu anomalies were propitious to prospecting, especially at lower levels. Fine structure and local variation of exploration geochemical anomalies could be acquired with the method of multiscale analysis, which are helpful to identify the anomalies relating to mineralization.

The results show that :(1)Magnetic susceptibility is diverse among various soil types, and the mean of brown soil is high because of human influence. Magnetic susceptibility of different accumulation is various.disparate demands of crops for elements result in the difference of magnetic susceptibility.(2)Soil magnetic susceptibility has distinct positive correlation with such heavy metal elements as cadmium, lead, mercury, copper and zinc. It also has negative correlation with pH of soil that can reflect soil acidification situation. So magnetic susceptibility may be used as better indicators for soil pollution.(3)Polluted zone is plotted out conveniently and rapidly via magnetic susceptibility.

Based on the analysis of the concepts of baseline and background value, the depositional environments are determined as the basic units to solve the soil geochemical baseline and the regional soil geochemical baseline are solved by means of areaweighed methodBy using the data obtained from the multipurpose regional geochemical survey in the Yangtze River Delta, the regional soil geochemical baselines of the region are gained, and their characteristics and applications are discussed. The conclusions are as follows:Various depositional environment is of its particular indicator element association.F、Cl、Br、I、Ca、Mg association reflects the relative age and proportion of marine sediments,N、S、OrgC,I、Hg and Y、Ce、La association indicates respectively the lake facies, lagoonal facies and terrestrial facies depositional environment.Hg and Cd as the pollution elements enriched in soils of the whole area;lithophile elements, rare elements and REE behaved steady;I and CaO lost easily.X0+2S0 adopted as the boundary values of soil pollution division of a part of elements can reflect the distribution of soil pollution. There were the fitting content nutrient elements Co and Na2O,abundant K,N,Fe,B,Cu,Cl,Mg and S, relatively poor Zn,Mn,P,Mo and Si in soils of the area.

The characteristics of environmental geochemistry of heavy metal pollutant cadmium (Cd) in the surficial soil from Eastern Hebei Province about 13,472 km2  were studied. The baseline concentration of Cd in soil and the geochemistry norms have been established to distinguish the nature or artificial influence on the environment. The statistical analysis indicated that the baseline of Cd from Eastern Hebei Province was 0.073 mg/kg.  Geoaccumulation index analysis indicated that the unpolluted surface soil accounts for 49.0%,and 47.6% between nonpollution and mid-pollution,2.1% for mid-pollution,1.2% between mid-pollution and severe pollution, only 1% for severe pollution. The maximum of Cd contamination degree (CD) is 8.9.  CD analysis indicated that the unpolluted surface soil accounts for 94.5%.The total CD below zero in surficial soil of Eastern Hebei Province does not suffer from cadmium pollution.

The marsh wetland belongs to a special kind of condition. To choose right media proper to the multiobjective geochemical exploration in the Zhalong marsh wetland, the group of the program made method trials, and the media collected for the trials are mainly from humic soils on the marsh wetland surface or from the fluvial soils on the base. The results show that the humic soil is the best media for the multiobjective geochemical exploration in the landscape. The contents of elements contained in the samples from humic soils, such as OrgC, N, S, Se, Hg, TC, U, Br, Au,TFe2O3, Bi, Cr, Ag, Li, Y, Mo, Cu, Sb, etc,are more than those obtained in the samples from fluvial soils. The conclusion accords with the ecological environment characteristics;however, the fluvial substances under the humic soil are most from outside area, and couldn’t reflect the ecological environment characteristics. Finally, the humic soil on the surface is the optimal media for the multiobjective geochemical survey in the swamp area. 

A soil leaching column experiment has been designed to investigate the release of Pb from paddy-soil in suburb of Hefei City under the influence of simulated acid rain.Compared with pH=5.6 rain, pH=3.0 and pH=4.5 acid rains were studied.Under leaching similar to 1,980 mm rainfall in the experiment, the release of Pb from the paddy-soil increases with the increasing of the acid rain strength.Promoting the release of Pb can be due to the enhancement of the phosphate quantity increased. The release amount of Pb differs with soil types. The leaching effect is more remarkable for soil sample from Daxing area than that from Yicheng area.

This paper gives some results from multi-purpose geochemical mapping in the Hetao area,Inner Mongolia. The soil of the Hetao area is rich in alkaline materials such as Mg and Ca. Attention should be paid to the mineralization of some dispersed elements such as Ga,Ge and Tl in Langshan polymetallic mining field. The Wulashan.Daqingshan is the favorable area for prospecting greenstone type gold deposit. Element contents of the soil with the granularity in <20 mesh reflect the geochemical characteristics of Hetao area. Parent material is the first factor that determines the elements’concentrations. For example, piedmont alluvial fan of Langshan is an abnormal sedimentary assemblage mainly with polymetallic material and dispersed elements. The cities in Hetao area are all characterized by element anomalies of Pb,Hg,C,Ag,Au,P,Cd and so on. In ancient lake area and modern Wuliangsu lake, F,Mo,U,CaO,MgO,Sr,C and I appear to positive anomaly, and SiO negative anomaly. Meanwhile, modern Wuliangsu lake sediments are rich in organic carbon,N,P and Se with low pH; and the ancient lakes are on the contrary. Fluorosis areas in Hetao have the same distribution with ancient lake, old channel and Cretaceous formation, and epidemic degree is proportional to volume of underground water with high fluoride. Arsenic poisoning is relevant to the interaction of total As and As3+,and the valence of As affects the arsenic poisoning. The higher the As 3+ content is, the more serious the arsenic poisoning is.
