Abstract:

The study of river ecosystem health is a new idea and a new issue by now. Ecosystem health is an important base to realize mutual coordination between human and environment and to realize sustainable development of the ecology. Based on the theory of hydrology and ecology, the concept of river ecosystem health was defined. A river ecosystem health evaluation index system and the evaluation method were established, and the river ecosystem health can be divided into three levels, i.e. superior, medium, and inferior. The evaluation system was applied to the river health evaluation of Inner Mongolian section of Yellow River. As the ecosystem health score is 0.558,Yellow River is in the state of medium health. Some countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to improve health status of Inner Mongolian section of Yellow River. The results provide a theory basis for ecological environment management of Inner Mongolian section of Yellow River.
