Abstract:

Yanting County,Sichuan Province is the high incidence area of esophageal cancer. The relationships between deficiency of trace elements(e.g. Mn, Mo, Se and Zn) and occurrence of esophageal cancer have been found in medical studies. In order to discuss the relationships between esophageal cancer and environmental elements(e.gdiet and so on), vegetables, grains and soils were collected and analysed for Mn, Mo, Se and Zn in high- and low-incidence villages,Yanting Country. Furthermore, daily intakes of Mn, Mo, Se,and Zn were estimated for residents in Yanting County. Results reveal that daily intakes of Mn and Mo are moderate, whereas those of Se and Zn are lack in all the villages.Due to the similarity of daily intakes between high-and low-incidence villages, the physical cause of severity of esophageal cancer in Yanting County need to be further researched in the future.
