    Three topics are discussed in this paper as follows:(1)unconformity analysis and its significance in the study of basin formation and evolution;(2)unconformity analysis and its relation with intensity of tectonic movement and basin modification;(3)types of stratigraphic traps related with unconfomities.From above mentioned discussions,it is concluded that:(1)nomal cycle and on lap above unconfomity were occurred at extensional and neutral tectonic settings,where as revers ecycle,offlap and truncation unconformity were developed at compressional tectonic environments;(2)composite,progressive and syntectonic unconformities are related to accelerated and lessened uplifts in the margin of intracontinental foreland basins;(3)based on the structural deformations below truncation unconformities and eroded thickness of strata,the degree of basin modification resulted from tectonic movement,and the types of stratigraphic traps related to unconformities can be recognized.

    Ice-molten sedimentary structure is a kind of ice-induced sedimentary structure controlled mainly by ice.Ice-molten sedimentary structures produced in not only glacial zone and permafrost but also seasonal frozen zone.Through field observations,seven ice-molten sedimentary structures,i.e.ice-molten water flow mark,ice-induced rip current mark,ice-molten dome(mark),ice-induced silt or mud slices,ice-induced mud-sand stalagmite,ice-induced pisolite,ice-induced rhizome,are recognized in the Yellow River delta and described in this paper,Totally,ice-molten sedimentary structures formed under condition of low temperature,fresh sediments saturated with water.An analysis by synthesis about the characters of modern ice-molten sedimentary structures and ancient ice-molten sedimentary structures in Maershan Member,Laiyang Formation in the Jiaolai basin,east China,shows that ice-molten sedimentary structures are important for the identification of sedimentary environments such as river channel,delta and tidal flat,and low temperature climate.Additionally,systematical classification on ice-formed sedimentary structures is made,and the relationship on characters of ice-formed sedimentary structures between permafrost zone and seasonal frozen zone is discussed in this paper.Though scales and species of ice-formed sedimentary structures produced from permafrost zone and seasonal frozen zone are great different,their mechanisms of formation are basically similar.

    Pearl River Mouth Basin,an epicontinental sea and marginal sea basin,is one of depositional basins abundant in oil and gas in China.Its formation and evolutive process could be divided into three phases:rifting phase from Late Cretaceous to Early 0ligocene,thermal subsidence phase from Late Oligocene to Mid-Miocene,faulted block uplifting and sagging from Late Miocene to the present,forming three assemblages of depositional system,such as continental facies,semi-closed marine facies and open marine facies respectively.On the basis of the seismic data,a Cenozoic depositional model of this basin has been established.At the initial rifting phase,filling patterns of the basin were characterized by fluvial and lacustrine facies;in the meantime,Wenchang Formation,the most important source strata,had been formed.At the thermal subsidence phase,the transitional facies and marine facies were the typical depositional systems in this basin,so that the favorable combinations of reservoir and seal were provided.At this phase,three major oil-bearing systems were formed in Zhuhai Formation,Zhujiang Formation and Hanjiang Formation,which belong to a coastal and delta depositional system.At the third phase,faulted block uplifting and sagging,the subsidence of the basin occurred and the regional seals were formed.The sedepositional assemblages reflected the features of extensional marginal sea basin's evolution.Basin evolution and resource effect represent the match of seals,reservoirs and source rocks in these three phases.Therefore,the favorable strata for hydrocarbon exploration are the clastic rocks of delta and the continental shelf carbonate rock formed in thermal subsidenc phase.

    Relative sea level change may result in the change of water depth and all the other ecological factors related,so it is a key factor for controlling the succession and replacement of brachiopods communities. The speed and extension of sea level rising and descending greatly control the species richness and diversity of brachiopods community.In the area of the north margin of Turpan-Hami basin,totally three third-order relative sea level changes can be recognized from the Upper Carboniferous,and all the 5 brachiopods communinties developed during this period are closely related to the sea level risings.There is no brachiopods fossil found during the marine regression,this may result from the quick descending of relative sea level changes and too much clastic sediments warmed into. During the period of sea level rising,the rapid rising of primary sea level is in favor of early brachiopods communities but may restrain the development of later comers.Constant and slow rising of sea level is helpful to the flourish of the species richness and diversity of brachiopods,but may delay the process of the replacement of brachiopods communities.

    By sampling and studying carefully in Maoershan section which lies in the 318 national highway from Enshi to Lichuan,the west of Hubei Province,it's found that in the middle to upper "Maokou"Formation,there are at least three conodont zones:Mesogondolella prexuanhanensis zone,M.xuanhanensis zone and M.granti zone. And the former two fossil zones can correspond with those of the Dukou section and it's time limit is comparatively long,which indicates the Maokou Stage biologic strata of conodonts are continuous in Yangtze Platform.In addition, this paper offers new information for the study of biologic strata in the west of Hubei Province.

    Boninite,which distinguished from the volcanic rocks between Bangonghu and Shiquanhe ophiolites belts,has been briefly reported in this paper.Boninite was regarded as the products of subduction magmatism,boninite or boninite series rocks distributed widely in the east,west,and surrounding areas of Qing-hai-Tibet Plateau indicated the subduction has ever been undergone commonly. The age of boninite is from Middle Jurassic to Early Cretaceous,and the adakite is in Cretaceous. The occurrences of boninite to adakite rocks indicate the changing process of immature inner-oceanic island to mature isladn in North Gangdese,and the rocks of boninite and adakite are the petrological records of continental level growth in Mesozoic.

    Ophiolites exposed in Dongqiao are mainly composed of metamorphic peridotites,gabbros and basalts.Through the analysis of major and trace elements of ophiolite in Dongqiao,it is concluded that the geochemical characteristics of its metamorphic peridotites are high content in Mg,Fe,Cr,and low content in Ti and REE.The gabbros and basalts are the transitional MORB type basalt.According to the data of trace elements in the ophiolite,the gabbros and basalts show the same characteristics as the spreading MORB,such as the depletion of elements of Nb,Ta and its relative enrichment of Rb,Sr and Ba.Meanwhile,according to the REE distribution patterns with no Eu anomaly,the gabbros and basalts are similar to Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt.On the basis of its geochemical attribute,it is concluded that the ophiolite of Dongqiao geotectonic setting is fomed in spreading ocean basin.

    Baolun gold deposit is a large-scale magmatic hydrothemal type gold deposit found recently in Hainan ProVince.It occurs in the Tuolie Fomation epimetamorphic rock of Lower Silurian and is controlled by fault structures.Rock-forming age of central facies of Jinfengling duplicate rock body related to the mineralization is 236 to 232 Ma.The rock body went through long-term and multi-phases intrusions.Mineralization age of Baolun gold deposit is 220 Ma(Indosinian Stage),the age difference between them is 16 to 12 Ma.Inpulse activities of the rock body supply material and power for forming of high-grade ore.

    Based on the systematical study of the regional distribution,strata sequences,chronology and structural deformation of the phosphorus-bearing stratum in the Susong phosphorus deposit,the age of the Susong phosphorus deposit belonged to the Sinian is put forward.The phosphorus-bearing stratum suffered two generations of strong deformations,and the original bedding is strongly reformed.The SuSong phosphorus deposit make up a folded monocline with the tangent plane of the smaller folds orientated NWW,dip to the south.The multilayer,thin out or combination of the phosphorus layers have been formed,which are mainly controlled by structure deformation,not by palaeogeography completely.The phosphorus layers in some former drilling profiles can be reconnected according to the folded theory.It is useful for us to explore and appraise or mine the phosphorite.The distribution of the phosphorus layers in palaeogeography has been described and the phosphorus deposit is evaluated on the structural view.

    There are three episodes volcanic eruptions in the North China at Meso-Neoproterozic,the volcanic rocks named Dahongyu Group,Chuanlinggou Group and Tuanshanzi Group.They are mostly alkahne basic rocks except for some dykes.The main rocks consist of phonotephrite,tephriphonohte,phonolite,foidite,trachyte,trachyandesite.The geochemical characteristic of the Volcanic rocks indicate the major contents are very rich for alkaline especially in K20 and TiO2;the trace elements are rich in LILE,but they are depleted in HFSE,especially in Yb and Y.It is usually interpreted that these volcanic rocks were formed in the expand rift,since the incompatible element ratios such as Ba/Nb,Th/Nb,Ba/La,Zr/Hf,Nb/Ta and Sm-Nd.Rb-Sr isotopic data showed that magma may be from the mantle.However,they also were influenced by the continental crust.Therefore,it is implicated the volcanic rocks were formed in a continental rift.There also distributed many silver-polymetal deposits such as Dongzigou,Jiangjunguan,Yinyeling,Louxuanchang and Zhaizhuang deposits along the volcanic rocks.The mineralization epoch of these deposits and forming ages of the volcanic rocks are both about1,521Ma to 1,700Ma. Most ore bodies are distributed with in the volcanic rocks,sometimes volcanic rocks are the wall rocks of the ore bodies,and sometimes ore bodies are occurred in volcanic edifice.The dominant ore mineral assemblages are tetrahedrite,nativecopper,hessite and other sulfides,which implicated that they formed on low-middle temperature with volcanism.Therefore,it can be proved that the volcanism have taken a pivotal action for the forming of deposits in the Meso-Neoproterozic.

    Recent regional geologic investigations show that the original“Mesoproterozoic Lengjiaxi Group”in northeast Hunan should be divided into four parts,they were formed at different ages and in different tectonic settings.“Jianxichong Group”is the oldest one among them.They belong to metamorphic volcanic-sedimentary series.According to the study of petrology,geochemistry and isotopic geochronology,we conclude that the volcanic rocks series mainly belong to tholeiites basalt and a little belong to calc-alkaline series.The whole rock Sm-Nd age of the mafic-ultramafic volcanic rocks is(2,594±48)Ma,it belongs to Neoarchean.The metamorphic facies of those rocks belong to blues chist facies.The source of the mafic-ultramafic volcanic rocks is depleted mantle.And their tectonic settings are the ocean or ocean island.

    The Turpan-Hami Basin is a new nuclear resource base,but before 2000,its uranium prospection and production enforced difficulty because of the stratum problem of the uranium bed.The authors distinguish and compare the strata by using not only biological stratigraphy and rock stratigraphy but also mudstone mineralogy and element geochemistry.The research finds that the target strata,which are named Shuixigou Group,were formed from late Lower Jurassic stage to early Middle Jurassic stage.It has five stratum units, which are Badaowan Fomation,Sangonghe Formation,Lower Member,Middle Member and Upper Member of Xishanyao Fornmtion.Uranium mineralization mainly develops in Xishanyao Formation,especially Lower and Upper Member of Xishanyao Formation.Badaowan Formation and Sangonghe Formation generally have no mineralization.

    Various types of the old oil pool sared eveloped in the Late Paleozoic strata of the Dianqiangui area,those developed in reef rocks of Devonian and Permian are especially wide spread.These old oil pools,especially for those belonging to sponge reef types that are developed in the margin of attached carbonate plat-form and on the isolated platforms,are almost characteristic of asphalt indications.The old dolomitic type oil pool developed in the intraplatform limestone strata of the Permian Maokou Formationis formed in the interior part of the attached platform,and is marked by oil indication and is obviously different to those old oil pools of sponge reef type.Apart from the potential source rocks that are constituted by deep water argilutites of inter platform basin,the hydrocarbon source for the old dolomitic type oil pool in Wudang of Guyang maybe come from the potential source rocks that are composed of the shallow platform dark limestone of the Permian Qixia Formation under lying the Maokou Fomation.The stratigraphic position and the out putting features for this old dolomitic type oil pool indicate several regularities as foUow:Firstly,two third-order sequences can be divided in the limestone strata of the Maokou Formation;Secondly,the dolomitic type reservoir is frequently formed in the top part of the third-order sequence,which is genetically related to the shoaling process of sedimentary environment caused by the forced regression;Thirdly,in the process of both accumulation and migration of oil and gas the special oil pool of the stratigraphic-lithologic type could be formed in the top part of the carbonate third-order sequence.All of these features show that the finding of this old dolomitic type oil pool could provide an important clue for the future exploration of oil and naturl gas.

    Based on the deep research of diagenesis in the west Sichuan,the authors applied Laser Roman Microspectrometer,micro-therrnometer and micro-fluorescence analysis technology to observe and test the physical facies patterns,composition,homogenization temperature and salinity of fluid inclusion respectiVely.Through analysis of the results of test,integrated with burial history,the formation of inclusions was divided into four stages.Finally,the authors discussed the characteristics of migration and evolvement of oil and gas that formed in different stages in this area.

    Production in the Huangjue oil field of the Subai basin,China,commenced in 1980.The field structure is a west-east trending roll over anticline.To date,only 8.7% of STOIIP(stock tank oil initially in place)has been recovered from the Eogene Dainan Formation divided into Daiyi Member and Daier Member.Such low recoveries are due to the complex reservoir textures and to early development practices.Reservoir management studies on optimizing recovery and identifying unswept oil volume are ongoing so as to maximize the venture's profitability.The reservoirs of the Dainan Formation consist of the distributary channel,mouth-bar,overbank and sheet sand deposits of the shallow lacustrine delta deposited in the flat shore-shallow lake under the warm,wet semi-tropical climate;however,pay zones are composed of predominantly distributary channel sand bodies.The ancient streams of the Dainan Formation,as a meandering river,flowed from south to north in the early Dainan period and came from dominantly the northwestern source area.The average widths of channels and bodies in the Daier Member and Daiyi Member are 329m and 207m respectively.There servoir texture in the Dainan Formation is alabyrinth described by Weber.This texture shows the channels and bodies are isolated and lenticular.Hence,the internal communication within these pay zones is believed to be extremely bad.In addition,this texture also determines the sizes and distributions of oil sandbodies in the Dainan Fomation.This work confirms and quantifies the impact of well spacing on the recovery factor,and figures the rational well spacing of the Huangjue oil field.To acquire an optimal improvement in the recovery factor,the rational well spacing ranges from 100 m to 300m.

    THE CORE EXPERIMENT OF THE INJECTION BY POLYMER IN TERTIARY OIL RECOVERY

    When oilfields begin to assume tertiary oil recovery phase in the east part of China,physical properties and electric properties of pay zones will be uncertainly altered to a great extent due to the iniection of polymer.In order to ascertain the changes of reservoir properties which have been affected by the polymer,the core experiments have been designed according to there servoir behaviors in the period of tertiary oil recovery.Based on the core experiments from polymer in jection region,this paper has identified that core porosity and permeability haven't changed,film potential has dropped off,porosity structural index has increased,the index of saturation of Archie's equation has focused on1.4-1.7,and the resistivity changes are in the shapes of letters s and L.After polymer displacement,reservoir porosity and pemeability can be calculated by conventional logging method.The values of film potential before polymer displacement are apparently bigger than that of after polymer displacement,so the application of spontaneous potential should be noticed after polymer displacement.During polymer displacement,the law of resisitivity change is similar to that of salinity water driving oil.So the method of saturation appraisal of waterflood can be directly used in logging assessment.

    Sonic full waveform analysis techniques such as Stoneley reflections and differential energy analysis have been used to identify fracture and evaluate their effectiveness.The cross component energy from the four component waveform rotations is also used to describe the effective fracture networks in the carbonates,which can be achieved by analysing the minimum and maximum energy of the anisotropy computation and verifying consistent characteristics between different wells with actual production from those wells.The multipole array acoustic tool can enhance the precision of seismic interpretation.It's also useful in lithology identification and gas-bearing bed and fractures detection.To draw pictures of litho-mechanics parameters that are suitable for production of Liaohe oil field,this method was put into production.

    For the first time,the authors discover and report a kind of clay distributed around the Xianyou Temple,Mazhao Town of Zhouzhi County,ShaanXi Province in the north edge of Qinling Range,and name it"Xianyousi clay".The characteristics show them belonging to sediments of slope surfaced debris in a moisture or half-heat climate in the late stage of Mid-Pleistocene,which originated from the old weathered crust of the north slope of Qinling Range.Test results indicate that Xianyousi clay is a kind of typical expansive soil containing abundant swelling clay mineral(I/S),which is a new type of expansive soils not discovered by people before.The unfavorable engineering properties of Xianyousi clay lead to slope instability under the condition of hard rainfall,many soil landslides occur frequently near the Xianyou Temple and along the No.108 national highway in the north edge of Qinling Range.Based on field investigation and the results of laboratory experiments,this paper presents the development characteristics,origin and age,as well as the engineering geological properties of Xianyousi clay,which are not only helpful to renew the Quaternary climate and promote the realization of the geological environmental evolution of north Qinling Range and Weihe basin,but also beneficial with theoretical and practical significance to understand the formation mechanisms of soil land slides,as well as to instruct hazard control.
